Venice was a leading center for dramatic and virtuosic music at the turn of the 17th century. ¡Sacabuche! explores this repertoire with breathtaking works by Venetian composers like Giovanni Gabrieli, Dario Castello, and Giovanni Legrenzi and also traces the far-reaching influence that Venetian composers exerted elsewhere in 17th-century Europe.

¡Sacabuche! is a premiere Canadian ensemble dedicated to the repertoire of baroque winds, strings, and organ, led by Dr. Linda Pearse. Winner of the 2009 Early Music America Collegium Musicum grant competition, ¡Sacabuche! has performed at early music festivals and concert venues across North America and taken their Matteo Ricci program on tour in China. Their album of 17th century Italian motets was released by ArkivMusik in 2015.
