José
Miguel Moreno, from Madrid, is one of the world's leading performers
on historical plucked string instruments. He specializes in historical
interpretation, with a wide-ranging repertory, and he often plays on
original instruments. Moreno, with his wife, has done extensive research
on the building of ancient instruments of the lute and guitar family. He
has taught at prestigious universities and conservatories throughout the
world. He will be presenting a program of music for Renaissance lute by
Ortiz, Cabezón, Dowland, and others. He records for the Glossa label. His
album "Spanish Guitar (1536–1836)" has sold nearly
30,000 copies.
