J.S. Bach - English Suite No. 6 in D minor, BWV 811

Pierre Hantaï is one of the preeminent harpsichordists of his generation. Born in Paris, he devoted himself to the harpsichord at the age of eleven, studying with Arthur Haas and with Gustav Leonhardt. He has won several international competitions and has performed with such pioneers of the Baroque revival as Philippe Herreweghe, Jordi Savall, and Sigiswald Kuijken. His playing combines a strong personality, technical mastery, architectonic rigor, expressive power, and scrupulous honesty with respect to the score. Pierre Hantaï is a recognized specialist in the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and Domenico Scarlatti. He has performed often as a soloist at important festivals and concert halls in Europe, the US, and Japan. Since 2002 he has recorded exclusively with the Mirare label. Among many other recordings, his two recordings of the Goldberg Variations and two volumes of sonatas by Scarlatti have won enthusiasm from both the press and the public.
