Ciaramella, directed by
Adam and Rotem Gilbert, brings to life medieval and
early Renaissance music from historical events and manuscripts. The
ensemble will present a program of Spanish Renaissance
music on shawms, slide trumpets, bagpipes, recorders, and vihuela. Join us
as we explore the road to Santiago and the great manuscripts of Segovia
and Seville. Along the way we will examine the Spanish influence on
Italian music and enjoy rousing dances from Spain and the New World. With
music by Juan Vasquez, Juan del Encina, Diego Ortiz, Andrea Falconieri,
Bartolomé de Selma y Salaverde, and the ever popular Anonymous!
Ciaramella
released its debut CD Sacred and
Secular Music from Renaissance Germany for Naxos in 2006 and Treasures
of Burgundy for Yarlung Records in 2009.
